inevitably, creased: a writing space dedicated to the vulnerability of in-between places.
a warm welcome to all.
Underline what needs underlining, and then let go.
To speak of endings at the beginning of a journey might seem like an act of unfaith. But my intention is not to call off a marriage. Far from it, I am here to mark a new chapter of my writing journey by closing another. I am hardly abandoning what I have built thus far. But put simply, to write and publish under the cumbersome roof built by an unprepared youth all those years ago, is to now feel restricted and awkward many years on.
By ‘roof’, I refer to the blog I raised up whilst uninspired at an internship years ago. In need of a personal project to fill the hours and the weeks (hence the name hoursandweeks), this was a writing platform that quickly became home. If memory serves me well, I did not launch it immediately, starting out merely as a space for myself and my own unlimited thoughts. Over time, I began letting others into my sporadic excursions and it has felt intimate, if but only to a rather closed circle of readers.
If you want a rummage through these archives, go for it.
Writing is not stagnant, just as the self is no unchanging being.
This space emerges with one hope in mind: the aspiration of putting my writing on a platform that feels versatile enough to withstand the forthcoming years. I want to be a part of a strong writing community that understands what it means to write in this day and age. I want to grow, not just independently, but simultaneously alongside others.
I will write from the heart, as I always have. From short pieces on lived experiences to essayistic dissections of difficult themes, I will never stray from my leading interest as a writer: a constant navigation of intersectional spaces and vulnerable places.
So who is she? I’ve got you covered in the about section.
I also write about books on Instagram and tweet with the ad lads on Twitter. Give those a follow if you’re interested.
To everyone who has been following my work these past few years, thank you for your steadfast support. I hope you will join me for this next chapter.
